Na drie ontroerende maanden heb ik uiteindelijk ons Stabat Mater klaar. De emotie laat zich niet beschrijven, het is iets wat je voelt, niet wat je vertelt. Ik ben blij, trots, maar ook sprakeloos wanneer deze ‘baby’ voor het eerst zal gaan kruipen…<\/em>
Ter gelegenheid van de wereldpremi\u00e8re van deze nieuwe compositie citeerde\u00a0 countertenor Sytse Buwalda op Facebook de componist Victor Kioulaphides, trots, als hij zijn Stabat Mater voltooid heeft.
Op 31 oktober 2021 luisterden we geboeid in de prachtige Grote kerk in Breda naar dit werk van deze ons onbekende componist,\u00a0 geboren in 1961 in Athene, nu werkzaam in New York.<\/p>\n

Het concert,\u00a0 Suite van verdriet<\/em>, ter herdenking van de overledenen, werd uitgevoerd door het Nederlands Bach Consort.\u00a0 Solisten waren Sytse Buwalda en Heleen Koele.
Naast het Stabat Mater van Kioulaphides\u00a0 hoorden wij\u00a0 twee verstilde, aangrijpend\u00a0 uitgevoerde composities van Arvo P\u00e4rt: Vater Unser <\/em>en\u00a0 Es sang vor langen Jahren. <\/em>Tot slot Tilge, H\u00f6chter meine S\u00fcnden<\/em><\/a> (psalm 51) een bewerking door\u00a0 Bach van het Stabat Mater van Pergolesi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Buwalda vroeg Kioulaphides\u00a0 om een Stabat Mater te componeren. Ge\u00efnterviewd in De Stentor, september 2016, zegt Buwalda: ‘Victor heeft het gecomponeerd als een suite: een reeks dansvormen in dezelfde toonsoort, met variaties op dezelfde harmonie\u00ebn. Het is tonale, toegankelijke muziek. Victor is ook ontzettend productief. Hij schrijft net als Mozart zijn muziek in bijna \u00e9\u00e9n vloeiende beweging op, zonder veel te veranderen.\u00a0 Net als bij Mozart klinken Kiouphalides\u2019 composities vaak ook simpeler dan ze zijn. Het is heerlijk als een componist precies weet hoe jouw stem klinkt en als het ware een muzikaal bed voor jou spreidt.’<\/p>\n

Helaas hebben we van het concert nog geen opname. Hopelijk gebeurt dat nog eens in de toekomst. In ieder geval voegen we dit Stabat Mater toe aan de pagina MISSING CDS<\/a><\/p>\n
