Mezzo soprano and male choir (tenor, baritone, bass, basso-profondo)

This Stabat is dark and intensely sad, the male choir is beautiful. Sharafyan says the following about his Stabat Mater:
It's always very demanding to come across with the sacral thematic and I feel it more and more in every such composition I write... In my opinion, the most important aspect here and the most common value that unites music and sacral thematic is universality of both. Both the prayer and the music has such value: we say the same pray, though expressing our individual prayers, musicians perform the same music though expressing themselves, their individuality through the same written composition and only by this value the music and prayer exist, communicate and live...
In my music "STABAT MATER" I strive to create a dialogue through the times - the real story and its content, prayer and nowadays expressiveness... kind of a dialogue of the time and the eternal.

Sharafyan used the text of the stanzas 1 to 4, 11 to 14 and 19 and 20 in the Vatican-version of the text.
