Javier Busto
About the composer
Javier Busto was born in Hondarribia, Spain, in 1949. He is a graduate in medicine and got his musical education by self study. He studied choral conducting and composition and was founder of several choirs with which he won awards in several countries. His compositions, too, won several awards.
Javier Busto served on the jury for composition and choral compositions in Spain, France, Italy and Japan. In the last country he was invited as guest conductor for “Tokyo Cantat” in 2000.
About the Stabat Mater

| Particulars: | A straightforward setting of the Stabat Mater, no clear divisions in parts and certainly pleasant to listen to. It has reminiscences of Gregorian chant, but is modern in its dissonances. In some stanzas the quickly repeated singing leads to an echoing effect and in stanza 19 the singing is overlaid with a staccato repetition of the words Stabat Mater. |
