Bertha Frensel Wegener-Koopman
About the composer
Bertha Frensel Wegener-Koopman (1874-1953), was born in Bloemendaal, Netherlands. She studied composition and piano at the Conservatorium in Amsterdam and completed her studies with the composer Bernard Zweers.
Soon she became well known as a pianist in Germany and the Netherlands. After her marriage with Mr. Jolen Frensel Wegener she begins a teaching career and focusses on composing. Her “lieder” were generally praised and taken on the repertoire of many famous Dutch singers.
She died in 1953.
