Yuri Kasparov
About the composer
Yuri Kasparov was born in Moscow in 1955 from Armenian parents and started composing at the age of 6. Before his study at the Moscow Conservatoire of Music he graduated as a scientist from the Institute of Energy. He is one of a generation of composers that have taken advantage of the freer climate in post-communist Russia which enables him to explore all possibilities of modern compositional techniques. In 1990 he founded the Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music, of which he is artistic director.
