Two female voices and keyboard

This is what Heather and Linda have to say about their Stabat Mater:
Our Stabat Mater follows a centuries old tradition of composers setting this Latin poem to music. We first encountered the version by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi at school. This music remained with us and we continued to sing it together long after we left home. So, when our world was rocked by Linda's cancer diagnosis in November 2003 and steadied again by the extraordinary love, strength and courage of family and friend, our resolve to live "philosophically and creatively" found expression in our own Stabat Mater. It is about pain and loss and death and grief, but above all it is about love. It is written in 14 short sections and is an accessible, very melodic piece. The sections range from sad and moving to fast and funky, and cover a variety of melodic styles, with classical, soul, pop and Latin influences. It is original and contemporary. It is vibrant and uplifting.
Although scored for keyboard and 2 female voices, the piece is open for creative adaptations - for choirs and vocal groups, small orchestras and bands, for schools, for solos and choruses. We did think about working with an English text, but nothing can replace the poetry of the original. It is dedicated with love to our families.
Personally, I think the sisters wrote a very moving piece, that certainly earns its place in the unending series of Stabat Maters that have been written in the last six centuries.

The text according to "Analecta" is used, with one exception:
- Stanza 16, line 2: not "Passionis eius sortem" but "Passionis fac consortem"
