About the Stabat Mater
Date: | 2004 |
Performers: | Countertenor, violin, viola, cello and organ |
Length: | 32.00 minutes |
Particulars: | This Stabat Mater has been composed specially for the voice of Andreas Scholl. Written in a baroque style, the work is the result of a five-year collaboration between Andreas Scholl and Marco Rosano, who lives in Belgium. The two met at a dinner party and bonded over a shared obsession with composition and recording technology. This modern Stabat Mater stands in the 'Baroque' tradition of basso continuo. Andreas Scholl gave the work its first complete performance on 22 February 2008 at City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney, Australia, with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra under Paul Dyer. I love the piece and the voice of Andreas Scholl very much. The work can be listened on the internet. See the link below. The composition can be downloaded on the Itunes Store too. |
Textual variations: | The "Analecta"-version is used without any changes. |
