Mixed choir, mezzosoprano and orchestra

Mr. Pavel Brochin was so kind to inform me about this composition. His choir, Audienda-Choir Krefeld, was invited to take part in the 5th Rhine-Westphalia Choral Festival in Krefeld. He was looking for a contemporary Estonian composition, and his friends recommended him Piret Rips' Stabat Mater. Piret Rips made a new orchestral version. The first one was for string orchestra only. His choir performed this work in September 2006.

All twenty stanzas are sung. The Vatican- as well as the Analecta-version of the Latin text have been used. The composer added extra text between part 4 and part 5. it is the first part from Passion narrative. 'Velum templi', also known as second responsorial for Good Friday (source of text is Matthew 27:51-52 & Luke 23:42, with minor alterations).
