Kate Moore
About the composer
Kate Moore is an Internationally acclaimed composer (from Australia). In 2017 she was awarded the prestigious The Matthijs Vermeulen Prize. Her works are performed by among others Asko|Schönberg, Bang on a Can, Icebreker, Slagwerk Den Haag, Ensemble Offspring, The Australian String Quartet and The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2018/ 19 she was Zielsverwanten composer in residence at The Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ and 2018 composer in focus at November Music. Her band Herz Ensemble is currently performing her major cycle The Crow and Other Short Stories. She holds a doctorate from the Sydney University conservatorium of Music, a masters from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and an honours degree from The Australian National University where she majored in composition and electroacoustic composition.

Particulars: | Moore's Stabat is a part of her composition Lux Aeterna: Vivid, commissioned by November Music Festival in association with the Hieronymus Bosch Foundation for the city of 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. It is a Requiem. The text is based upon the Latin Mass for the dead. Part III is Stabat Mater (stanza 14 and 15). The Stabat Mater part is simple and spiritual. Minimal music with excellent singers! |
