Antonio Draghi
About the composer
Antonio was born ca. 1635 in Rimini (Italy). He died in 1700 in Vienna, where he lived the major part of his working life. He entered the dowager Empress (widow of the Austrian Emperor Ferdinand III) Eleonora’s service in Vienna in 1658. From 1682 until his death in 1700 he was imperial court Kapellmeister in Vienna. Besides chamber music he composed more than 170 operas and more than 40 oratorios. He also composed religious music: two masses, three hymns and a Stabat Mater are preserved.
