Fausto Farroni
About the composer
Fausto Farroni was born in Italy in 1960. Unfortunately, aside from this biographical information, I have not been able to find any further details about his life or compositions. However, he extensively discusses his motivations for composing a Stabat Mater in the CD-insert.
Farroni’s intention has been to explore the essence of life and to establish a harmonious balance between reason and emotion. Like many contemporary composers, he believes that the Stabat Mater poem serves as a universal expression of human suffering, as well as a beacon of hope for a future world free from hatred.

| Particulars: | The Stabat Mater is divided into 11 parts and can be considered as an oratorio. It commences with an orchestral 'Praeludium' and concludes with an expansive chorus on the word 'Amen'. The entire composition evokes strong emotions. Personally, I find the music to have a less modern character, reminiscent of compositions from the latter half of the nineteenth century. The orchestral sections occasionally bring to mind the style of Verdi. |
