About the Stabat Mater
Date: | ca. 2000 |
Performers: | Soprano, choir and orchestra |
Length: | 5.49 minutes |
Particulars: | The choir sings the first stanza of the Latin poem, repeating this after each of the three parts sung by the soprano. The music is subdued and very melodious, with a nice contrast between the choral and the sopranic sections. It is a real pleasure to listen to |
Textual variations: | Of the Latin text only the first stanza is used. The soprano sings an Italian text, in the first two parts of which one can recognize translations of the second and fifth stanzas, plus in the third section a translation of the combined stanzas 7 and 8. |
