About the Stabat Mater
Date: | 2000 |
Performers: | Mixed children's choir, strings and piano. |
Length: | 18.19 minutes |
Particulars: | Though two movements of the work were composed in 1995, the remaining four were finished in 2000. It was written specifically for the choir that sings it in this record, keeping in mind their possibilities. As Zychowicz explains, he chose for not to complicated music, but did not avoid modern idiom, in an attempt to let them experience the sacredness of the piece, while bringing them nearer to today's music. Though written for children's choir, in some parts individual voices are used. |
Textual variations: | The complete text of the "Vatican"-version is used. |
