Lukáš Borzík
About the composer
Lukáš Borzík was born in 1979 in Poprad in Slovakia. He studied classic guitar at Music College. He received private tuition of composition from Pavol Krška which was followed by regular composition studies at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He finished his Ph.D program in 2011 under Jevgenij Iršai. In 2006 he was awarded 1st prize in Alexander Moyzes International Competition for Composers, chamber ensembles category, and also best composition of Slovak composer for his composition Ask the mirror.
Since 2011 he has been working as a universary teacher at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. His oeuvre includes stage, film and radio music.

| Particulars: | Lukáš Borzík in the booklet: This Stabat Mater brings three different points of view on the Mother who stood by her dying Son. They are expressed by three motifs of different emotional timbre - the motif of lament, motif of pain and the motif of silent sorrow - stated in the bass solo. The slow alternations of the widening and narrowing metro-rhythmic pulse of the composition forms a kind of analogy to the visual movement towards the suffering of the Mother of God and/or the movement away from the invisible wounds hidden deeply in her heart. |
