About the Stabat Mater
Date: | 2005 |
Performers: | Mixed choir, orchestra and Soprano |
Length: | 30 minutes |
Particulars: | The composition is divided in ten parts. Section 7 has three small parts. I like listening to this piece. Paul van Gulick tells about this work: "I compose in a style based on tradition. I do this because I am sure that melody and harmony are important pillars on which people are emotionally appealed. Music has to touch you, it cannot be a one-sided affair" . |
Textual variations: | Both versions ("Analecta"-version and the "Vatican"-version) of the text have been used. The text of stanza 19 is sung first in "Analecta" and then in "Vatican". |
