About the composer
Timothy Helisek was born in 1981 in Minnesota in the United States, His compositional style is rooted in his upbringing, where he played classical music and show tunes on the organ as a child. He then expanded his repertoire to write songs for rock and metal bands during his teens. His passion for music led him to pursue studies in music composition at the university level, ultimately turning his love of music into a unique career. Throughout his career, he has worked in publishing, film, and education.
He has composed incidental music for plays and film scores, often collaborating with Garry Schyman and William Goldstein. His previous albums feature his solo piano compositions as well as his avant-garde elektro acoustic music. Alongside numerous singles released over the past decade, Timothy A. Helisek’s eclectic, dynamic, and compelling sound challenges traditional musical boundaries. He is focused on creating conceptual worlds through his music.
His style can be described as a cinematic blend of orchestral and choral majesty with the raw energy of electric guitars and drums. His compositions explore themes of human struggle, sacrifice, and hope.

Particulars: | Helisek's Stabat Mater is divided into six parts. In the opening section, Helisek showcases his piano skills, while in the subsequent part, he switches to the electric guitar. The performance exudes remarkable intensity, both in vocals and instrumentation. With each listen, its beauty becomes increasingly captivating. |
Textual variations: | All twenty stanzas of the Stabat Mater have been used. The second part, between the sixth and seventh stanzas, serves as an interlude with a different text. It is the text from Luke 2 verses 34-35: "And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary the mother of Jesus: And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts thoughts may be revealed." This is a reference to the sword mentioned in the second stanza. The text is sung in Latin: Et benedixit illis Simeon et dixit ad Mariam matrem eius tuam ipsius animam pertransiet gladius ut revelentur ex multis cordibus cogitationes. |
