Franciszek Kottritsch
About the composer
Fanciszek Kottritsch was born in Poland about 1727. He was one of the composers from the Jasna Góra Monastry, played wind instruments and was officially employed in the ensemble of the Pauline Fathers as a oboe player from 1779 to 1787. Apart from his compositional activity, he got the credit as a copyist of many pieces in the repertoire of the ensemble. He died suddenly on April 27th 1787, and the fact he was buried in the vault of the Basilica shows his great recognition in the monastic community of Jasna Góra.
