About the composer
Pierre Thilloy was born in 1970. He began his studies at the conservatory of Nancy, where he studied orchestration and harmony. He studied composition at the conservatory of Luxembourg and at the International Academy of the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He was awarded several prizes in international competitions. Being only in his early thirties, he nevertheless composed almost a hundred works, several symphonies, choral works, chamber music and an opera for children. Particulars: | The Stabat Mater is Thilloy's opus 95. In fact it consists of several versions. Nr.1 is for four voices (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) and Nr.3 is for string quartet, in versions with and without a speaker. Version Nr. 2 is the one I recorded, for mixed choir. The work is divided in 7 parts. It is dedicated to the victims of September 11 in New York. |
