Fausto Farroni
About the composer
Fausto Farroni was born in Italy in 1960. Apart from that fact I have not been able to find any details about his life or compositions. He tells in the CD-insert extensively about why he composed a Stabat Mater.
He has tried to find the essence of life, to establish a balance between sense and emotion. As with many modern composers, he feels that the Stabat Mater poem is an expression of the suffering of all people, and an expression of hope for a better future, in a world free from hate.
About the Stabat Mater
Date: | 1999 |
Performers: | Soprano, Alto and Symphony Orchestra |
Length: | 53.20 minutes |
Particulars: | The Stabat Mater is divided in 11 parts and could be regarded as an oratorio. It opens with an orchestral "Praeludium" and ends with an extensive chorus on the word "Amen" . The whole work is very emotional. To my ear the music is not very modern and could easily have been composed in the second half of the nineteenth century. The orchestral parts do remind me of Verdi sometimes. |
Textual variations: | The "Analecta"-version of the text is used, with one change: |
