Surfing over the Web you can find links with all kind of subjects (poems, books, paintings) related to the Stabat Mater. Some are good, some are not, some seem to have nothing to do at all with the Stabat Mater poem or the music inspired by it. I give a short description, and, in some cases, my opinion of the site, but, of course, you can decide for your self.
- Andreas Prittwitz – Looking back over the Baroque – Pergolesi, Stabat Mater
Andreas Prittwitz is a musician from Spain. He just sent me this Youtube video. He told me: “Trying to describe my music I would say it is original compositions with original instruments mixed ( I don´t like this word, prefer unify) with modern instruments ( Saxofone, Clarinet ) and improvisations”. - Stichting Stabat Mater 1998 – 2018
The Dutch “Stichting Stabat Mater” (Stabat Mater Foundation) comes from private initiative early 1998. Its goal was the yearly performance of Stabat Mater compositions in the period preceding Easter. The founders aimed for a high standard of artistic quality, to make sure of an intense musical experience. In 2018 they celebrated their 20th anniversary. Unfortunately this was the final Stabat Mater concert organised by the foundation. - Project Dialogue Painting – Music
My friend Daisy Mottier from Switzerland presents her pictural expression of the Stabat Mater, inspired by the contemporary interpretation of de Genevois composer Jean-Claude Schlaepfer. Here you can listen to the music and see the paintings! - Stabat Mater for Online Listening
Stabat Mater for Online Listening is an activity of the Music Programme of Christ Church Anglican Cathedral located in downtown Montreal, Quebec, at the corner of rue University and rue Ste-Catherine. - Stabat Mater Dolorosa – Listening (from Germany)
I met another Stabat Mater fan. Michael Dölker constructed a website about a pilgrimage place in Germany, in Grimmenthal. His site has a religious, spititual character. One of the items of his site is Stabat Mater Dolorosa – Vertonungen. You will find a lot of Stabat Mater compositions, sorted by century. Most of them have a link to Youtube. He is always succeeding to find new compositions. Very special!
