We just added two new French composers to the collection: Eric Tanguy’s Stabat has been written in memory of Vivaldi’s Stabat, which he heard as a child. This piece is for him one of the most beautiful works there is, That is why Tanguy wanted to write a Stabat Mater. The work has been composed for mixed choir and cello. Tanguy: The work is found at the heart of the disc and at the heart of suffering: that of a mother who has lost her child.
The Stabat Mater by Hervé Rémond (2020) (no cd) was composed for Armistice Day (Commemoration of the end of the First World War on Nov 11, 1918). It is a tribute to all mothers suffering from the loss of their child, at the heart of the misery and conflicts that still tear our contemporary world apart. The assignment at the beginning of the score is: To my mother, and to all mothers, especially those living in areas where raising children is a daily challenge. Mr. Rémond was so kind to send the video file to me, thanks!
New: Rémond and Tanguy
