About the composer
This Stabat Mater is probably composed in Bolivia during the Baroque era.
About the Stabat Mater
Mixed choir, organ, cello
The singing is mostly homophonic, in a quiet tempo. Interesting is that the stanzas 9 and 10 are sung on the melody of the official catholic gregorian chant.
Only stanzas 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19 and 20 are performed. The "Analecta" version of the text is used. The final "Amen" is omitted.
Information about the recording
|CD:||Arcangel ARC -001-CD: Música para la Pasión “Barroco en Bolivia”, vol.I|
All these works are from the baroque period and were meant to be performed in the church during the liturgy. They have been recovered during an intensive study of the musical archives in Bolivia. Recorded in the Cathedral of Santa Cruz in May 1998, during the II Festival of Renaissance Music and American Barroque. Probably this CD is not on sale in Europe. It was bought in Bolivia by Dr.Hans van den Berg, who sent it to me as a present!
