About the Stabat Mater
Date: | 2014 |
Performers: | Choir, bass, percussions, soprano saxophone and double bass |
Length: | 22.38 minutes |
Particulars: | The title of this composition is Blue Stabat Mater. I am very happy with the cd. I like the jazz sound, totally different from all classical or modern Stabat Maters. Several times there is an instrumental intermezzo of the jazz trio. It is a pleasure to listen to. After the 20th stanza the composition ends with the trio, gradually becoming silent. Beautiful! |
Textual variations: | The vatican version of the text has been used. All twenty stanzas are sung. After the third bass stanza the choir sings the first line of stanza 1 again. |
