About the Stabat Mater
Choir, bass, percussions, soprano saxophone and double bass
The title of this composition is Blue Stabat Mater. I am very happy with the cd. I like the jazz sound, totally different from all classical or modern Stabat Maters. Several times there is an instrumental intermezzo of the jazz trio. It is a pleasure to listen to. After the 20th stanza the composition ends with the trio, gradually becoming silent. Beautiful!
The vatican version of the text has been used. All twenty stanzas are sung. After the third bass stanza the choir sings the first line of stanza 1 again.
