About the Stabat Mater
A straightforward setting of the Stabat Mater, no clear divisions in parts and certainly pleasant to listen to. It has reminiscences of Gregorian chant, but is modern in its dissonances. In some stanzas the quickly repeated singing leads to an echoing effect and in stanza 19 the singing is overlaid with a staccato repetition of the words Stabat Mater.
The "Vatican"-version of the text is used.
