About the composer
Emánuel Moór was born in Hungary in 1863. He was a pianist, a composer and an inventor of musical instruments (the double keyboard piano). Most of the time, he lived in Switzerland. He was a close friend of Pablo Casals. Before and during the first worldwar, his works were widely performed in Europe. Today he is almost completely forgotten. Emánuel Moór died in 1938.
About the Stabat Mater
Female choir, alto and organ
Among the more than 200 of his compositions, the Stabat Mater, opus 138 was one of his favorites. The work is divided in 9 parts.
The "Vatican"-version of the text is used.
