About the composer
Serge Mühle was born in 1949 in Luxembourg. From his other works the “Requiem” and “La Reine folle” (8 duets for flute and violin) have been performed.
About the Stabat Mater
Soprano, cello, flute and hobo
The Stabat Mater consists of three main parts: an instrumental Introduction (largo, adagio, allegro and largo) and Final (allegro, vivace, allegro, adagio), played by cello and flute, and a middle piece, where the text is sung by the soprano, accompanied by cello and hobo (adagio). Generally, the composition has an atmosphere of loneliness and sorrow, especially by the important part the cello plays.
The "Analecta"-version of the text is used. with following changes:
